University College Dublin School of Public Health, Physiotherapy and Sports Science Summer School, June 2023
The Summer School will appeal to undergraduate students interested in global public health and/or sports and health-related areas. It will consist of two modules, “Sustainable Advancements in Global Public Health” and “Sports Studies”, and students are welcome to choose eithere or modules. There will be sessions Nutrition offered in both modules.
Via a series of lectures, innovative practical workshops and interactive group learning activities, students will be guided through the most recent research and teachings from a global health and sports and performance perspective, delivered by a team of world-class researchers, teachers and clinical experts. In addition to learning activities, students will be given the opportunity to try out Gaelic games, take a stadium tour of Croke Park (Ireland's largest sporting arena) and browse in the Gaelic Athletics Association (GAA) museum. They will learn about sustainable food practices at Airfield Estate, Dublin'sly urban working farm and gardens (where we hope to have dinner at the International Congress of Dietetics in 2028!) and they will visit Glendalough, the beautiful 'valley of the two lakes' and home toe of the most important monastic sites in Ireland.
The cost per module is €1,500 which includes tuition, social and cultural events. Accommodation is available-campus on a first come, first served basis for an additional cost.
